RSV Poses a Fatal Threat: Mortality Rate as High as 17.6%! (1)
RSV, or Respiratory Syncytial Virus, is a common and highly contagious virus. However, there is still no targeted medication available, making early prevention—such as vaccination—crucial. Elderly individuals with chronic illnesses are considered a high-risk group due to weaker immunity. Once infected, they may experience worsened chronic conditions, leading to severe complications, hospitalization, or even death. (2)(3)(4) Common complications include pneumonia, acute bronchitis, heart failure, acute kidney failure, and metabolic disorders. (5)(6)(7)

If already infected with RSV, the likelihood of contracting influenza doubles (9)##, resulting in a dual attack from RSV and influenza, which increases the mortality rate by 4 times. (8)**#
