Limited-time promotion: If the test result is positive, follow-up diagnostic procedures will be eligible for a subsidy of up to $3,000 provided by the “Cancer Screening Care Program.” This may cover diagnostic tests such as ultrasounds or X-rays. (The subsidy applies only to the category with the highest risk index — for example, if the test shows the highest potential risk for breast cancer, the subsidy will cover diagnostic costs related to breast cancer.) For details, please consult the medical staff at the center.(Note: The “Cancer Screening Care Program” reserves the right of final decision regarding all subsidy arrangements.)
What is SPOT-MAS?
SPOT-MAS has received Breakthrough Device designation from the US FDA. It is a multi-cancer early screening (MCED) test that uses a blood sample. It is a non-invasive test that only requires drawing one tube of blood.
Using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) technology, combined with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and artificial intelligence analysis, the test detects suspicious tumor signals in the blood and attempts to predict their possible tissue or organ of origin.
✅ High accuracy: Integrates genomics, epigenomics, and fragmentomics for a more comprehensive and precise analysis than single mutation detection. Offers 99.8% specificity, meaning a very low false-positive rate.
✅ Designed for Asian populations: This is the first test in Asia validated through a prospective study involving 9,024 participants (1)(2).
✅ Simple and convenient: Only 10 ml of blood is needed to screen for multiple cancer types.
✅ Earlier cancer detection than imaging tests: Can detect cancer signals earlier than X-rays or CT scans (3).
Why is early cancer screening important?
The number of local cancer cases continues to rise, and many patients are diagnosed at middle or late stages, when treatment options are limited and survival rates are worse.
Early detection and timely treatment can improve 5‑year survival rates several times over compared with late-stage diagnoses. This trend is particularly evident in cancers such as breast, colorectal, and lung cancers. In Hong Kong, there are 97 new cancer cases every day (4). Early screening can prevent late-stage diagnoses, such as lung cancer (72% late-stage) and colorectal cancer (50% late-stage).
