What is a Bone Density Scan (DEXA/DXA)?
-
The most common method to measure bone mineral density.
-
Uses two different energy levels of X-rays to analyze bone density in the lumbar spine and hip.
-
Detects and evaluates bone loss in the body.
Radiation and Safety
-
Very low radiation dose — about one-tenth of a chest X-ray.
-
Safe, quick, and painless procedure.
-
Test duration: around 10 minutes.
Bone Densitometry DEXA 4 main features:
- Low radiation exposure
- Painless examination
- The exam takes about 10 minutes
- Measures bone mineral density of the lumbar spine and hip
B. FibroScan® (HHU85)
Principle of FibroScan® Examination
- Uses an ultrasound probe to deliver mild vibration waves to the liver.
- Ultrasound waves travel faster through stiff tissue and slower through elastic tissue.
- Measures liver stiffness to assess the degree of liver fibrosis.
Next-Generation Function (CAP)
- Based on the Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) principle.
- Measures fat content in the liver.
- Helps in the detection of fatty liver (steatosis).
Individuals with the following high-risk factors are more likely to develop conditions such as fatty liver, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, or liver cancer. It is recommended for them to undergo FibroScan® testing annually or as directed by a doctor:
- Individuals with diabetes/insulin resistance
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Abnormal cholesterol levels
- Alcohol consumers
- Hepatitis B carriers
- Hepatitis C carriers
- Long-term use of medications that may cause fatty liver, such as corticosteroids
The following individuals are not suitable for FibroScan® testing:
- Pregnant women
- Individuals with cardiac pacemakers/implantable cardioverter-defibrillators
- Individuals with ascites (abnormal accumulation of fluid in the abdomen)
- Severely obese individuals
- Individuals with narrow spacing between ribs
C. Pap Smear (Cervix Test) (PAT)
What is Cervical Screening (Pap Smear Test)?
- Common and simple screening method for cervical cancer.
- Detects abnormal changes or lesions in cervical cells.
- If results show abnormalities, further examination is required.
