*To ensure a smooth vaccination process, it is mandatory to present the original immunization record card (vaccination card) each time you receive vaccination. This is for healthcare professional to fill out and verify the relevant vaccination records. If you are unable to present the vaccination card on the day of your appointment, we reserve the right to refuse vaccination for the appointment holder.

Pneumonia is the 2nd leading cause of death in HK. Streptococcus pneumoniae is one of the common bacteria causing pneumonia (lung infection) and serious diseases; for example, meningitis, otitis media, sepsis and even death.

According to the recommendations of the Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection: All aged 2 or above or high-risk elderly persons aged 65 or above should have pneumococcal vaccination.

Vaccination is one of the most effective way to prevent invasive infection.

High-risk groups that are more susceptible to pneumococcal infection (1-5):

1. Young children under the age of 5 and older adults above the age of 50
2. Chronic cardiovascular excluding hypertension without complication, lung, liver or kidney diseases
3. Metabolic diseases including diabetes mellitus or obesity (A body mass index of 30 or greater)
4. Weakened immune system due to conditions such as HIV/AIDS or cancer
5. Chronic neurological conditions that can compromise respiratory functions
6. History of Invasive pneumococcal diseases, cerebrospinal fluid leakage or cochlear implantation

Consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from S.pneumoniae serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, 22F, 23F and 33F individually conjugated to CRM197 carrier protein (6).

Vaccination guidelines from the pharmaceutical company:

Infant vaccination schedule 1 (6):
Total of 3 doses: 1st dose can be given as early as 6-12 weeks old. 8 weeks after the injection of 1st dose, 2nd dose can be given. 3rd dose (booster) can be given between 11-15 months old.

Infant vaccination schedule 2 (6):
Total of 4 doses: 1st dose can be given as early as 6-12 weeks old. Next 2 doses need to be 4-8 weeks apart. 4th dose (booster) can be given after the 3rd dose at least 2 months later, and recommended to inject between 11-15 months old.

For those 2 years old and above (6): 1 dose
(Must have never received the 13-valent pneumococcal vaccine before)

Not applicable to:

  • People who have a history of severe allergic reaction to any of the vaccine component or Pneumovax 23 in the past
  • Those who are pregnant or breast-feeding
  • People with fever

    • 【Appointment Process】Upon successful payment confirmation, please WhatsApp your order number and the recipient's full name to 6010 4853 (text messages only) (Office Hours: Monday to Saturday; 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM). Human Health will confirm with you via WhatsApp within 2 working days during office hours.
    • Individuals with allergic reactions to any vaccine ingredients are not suitable for injection.
    •  If you have a fever or are currently taking antibiotics on the day of vaccination, it is recommended to postpone the injection.
    • Individuals undergoing medical treatments (such as chemotherapy, steroids, etc.) should consult a doctor for guidance before receiving the vaccine.
    •  If you are taking medication but are unsure whether you can receive the vaccine, it is advised to consult a doctor first or bring your medication for the medical staff to check on the day of injection before deciding suitability.
    • This plan requires an assessment by medical personnel to determine suitability. If evaluated as unsuitable for vaccination, an assessment fee of HKD 350 will apply, and the remaining balance can be refunded or exchanged.
