What is Shingles (Herpes Zoster)?

  • Caused by the varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox virus).
  • Results in painful, band-like red rashes.
  • Virus remains dormant in spinal nerves after chickenpox healing.

Disease Characteristics

  • Risk for anyone who has had chickenpox.
  • Can last up to 30 days with sharp, severe pain.
  • Abnormal sensitivity and pain from light touch or clothing.

Postherpetic Neuralgia Risk

  • After rash heals, 30% of patients develop lingering nerve pain.
  • Pain may persist for months to years.

  • Herpes Zoster Vaccine is effective in preventing Herpes Zoster, reducing the chance of reoccurrence and relieve the pain and Posterior neuralgia caused.
  • Shingrix is given as a 2-dose series. The second dose cant be administered as soon as 2 months after the first dose (and if necessary, anytime between 2-6 months)

      If you purchase vaccine service, please pay attention to the following vaccination guidelines: 

      •    All services require an appointment. Customers who have successfully purchased an injection service are advised to book at least 2 weeks in advance. For Saturday appointments, booking at least 4 weeks in advance is recommended.
      •    The injection must be scheduled within 6 months of purchase; no refunds will be issued for expired orders.
      •    After successful payment, our customer service team will contact you within 2 working days to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, you may send your order number, the full name of the service recipient, and your preferred appointment date to us via WhatsApp at +852 6010 4853 (text messages only) during office hours (Monday to Saturday, 9 am – 6 pm); we will respond as soon as possible.
      •    Individuals with known allergies to any vaccine ingredients should not receive the injection.
      •    It is recommended to postpone the injection if you have a fever or are currently taking antibiotics on the day of the appointment.
      •    Individuals currently undergoing medical treatment (e.g., chemotherapy, steroid therapy) should consult a doctor for advice and guidance before receiving the injection.
      •    If you are taking medication but are unsure about your suitability for the vaccine, please consult a doctor beforehand, or bring the medication with you on the day of the appointment for the medical staff to review and determine suitability.
      •    Suitability for this program must be assessed by medical staff. If the assessment determines that the customer is unsuitable for the procedure, an assessment fee of HKD 350 will be charged, and the remaining balance can be used for an exchange or refund.
